Urban Spaces

We are always keen to look at opportunities for positive urban interventions, to create and adapt public spaces that are underused or underdeveloped.

When the cattle market moved out of Frome town centre in 1990 the area was flattened and converted to a large car park. Katy was responsible at the time for the agreed Urban Design Framework for Frome as Town Centre Manager. She implemented many of the public space enhancements.

More recently studies have been undertaken by the practice to identify two areas where enhancements would help adjacent facilities at the Cheese & Grain and the Black Swan Arts through place making. See images on the right.

We have also undertaken capacity studies and site analysis for the Saxonvale site in Frome, a 'modest masterplan' and urban extension to the town centre with riverside park & town squares.
