Reversion to the site owner of the 50 year old Tea Gardens, gave an opportunity to create homes that could enjoy this landscape set in an old Bathstone quarry. A careful insertion of 2 houses and 9 apartments forming 4 buildings specifically shaped to fit into parts of the garden, with the rest of the wooded site to be a shared amenity, was shielded from the main road by garaging and parking.
The use of the quarry stone and cedarwood cladding together with full solar energy harvesting - Passive/solar/photo-voltaic, plus communal heating makes a minimal environmental impact and future-proof residents’ energy costs. We gained planning consent but others produced the construction drawings.
