A collapsing barn and a dilapidated corrugated steel shed were the unpromising starting points for this conversion and extension to a self-contained garden annex for an artist. The site enjoys stunning views across hills to the Westbury White Horse. The artists studio extension was conceived as a curve to focus on a mature Walnut tree, without compromising the roots. The result is a cosy, super-insulated residence, with the beautifully renovated and repaired barn; a giant party space, complete with automated movie screen and minstrels gallery over.
